Privacy Policy

vou ("vou," "we," "us") helps you plan trips and hangouts with your people. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using vou you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
- Account & profile: your email, name, avatar/emoji, and any profile photo you upload. Optionally: your home city, age range, and self-declared travel preferences (wake style, pace, food style, nights-out style, splurges).
- Plans & content: the plans, itineraries, saved places, notes, votes, shopping and packing lists, and photos you create or add.
- Payment handles (optional): if you add them, your Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle handle and your preferred method. vou never moves money — these are shown to your plan members as pay-your-way links so you can settle up directly. We do not collect card or bank account numbers.
- Calendar (optional): if you connect Google Calendar, we use a token to read your free/busy times to suggest dates. We do not read event details beyond availability.
- Feedback: messages and any screenshot you attach when you send feedback.
- Usage & analytics: an anonymous device identifier, the marketing source you arrived from (UTM parameters), and product events (e.g. a plan created, a place saved) to understand and improve vou.
- Cookies: a signed session cookie to keep you logged in and a first-touch cookie for the analytics above. No third-party advertising cookies.
How we use it
To run vou (create and share plans, coordinate dates and places, settle up), to personalize your experience, to communicate with you about your account and plans, to measure and improve the product, and to keep vou safe and secure.
How it's shared
- With your people: plans are collaborative — members of a plan can see its content and who's in it. Places you save publicly, and your identity as a saver, are visible to your travel crew (people you've shared a plan with). Private saves are not public.
- Service providers: we use trusted vendors to run vou — Supabase (database & storage hosting), Vercel (app hosting), and Google (Maps and, if you connect it, Calendar). They process data on our behalf.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect vou and its users.
Your choices & rights
You can edit or delete your information at any time from your profile. You can download a machine-readable copy of your data from Profile → Danger zone → Download my data, and permanently delete your account (profile, saves, and personal data) from Profile → Danger zone → Delete my account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to run vou. When you delete your account we remove your profile and personal data; content shared with a group plan may remain with that plan, disassociated from you. We may retain limited records as required by law.
Security
We protect your data with access controls and encryption in transit, and we work to limit who can see what. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information.
Age
vou is for people 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as vou grows. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app.
